Plant a tree for Tu Bishvat!

The fifteenth day of Shevat is the New Year for Trees. On this day it is customary to eat fruits grown in Israel, especially the fruits of the carob tree.

Since the resettling of Israel, the day has been observed as a time for planting trees as part of the reclamation of the land.

Some communities also use this festival as a time to collect funds for the Jewish National Fund and to celebrate the gradual awakening of the land from the grip of winter.
